Javed Akhtar is known to be a lyrical genius and is a well-respected figure in the Indian film industry. However, he recently watched a Tamil film called 'Sarvam Thaala Mayam' and took to Twitter to praise it. Unfortunately, he got the film's name completely wrong and Tamil actor Siddharth and netizens were quick to take a dig.
Taking to the microblogging platform, Akhtar misspelt the film as 'Sarvam Thalamus Maryam' as he wrote, ''Watched a Tamil film “ sarvam thalamus Maryam “ directed by ace cameraman Rajiv Menon. Well made well performed, very sensitive. It is an unusual story about music and social justice. Achhi picture Hai.''
Siddharth, who is very vocal on social media was quick to retort as he wrote, ''"Javed Tamilus Killingam" achha naam hai.'', clearly taking a dig at the fact that the veteran lyricist got it completely wrong. Not only that, but his tweet also implied that Javed Akhtar actually killed Tamil with his mispronunciation.
However, the veteran took the higher route and apologised to the actor for his error as he replied, ''Dear Siddharth I totally understand your feelings. This is how I feel when someone murders Hindi or Urdu. My unconditional apologies. I have punished my self by writing that title again and again.''
After Javed profusely apologised for his error, netizens took his side and asked Siddharth to take it a little easy. One wrote that he was only trying to promote a good movie while another asked him to at least respect his age and to stop being so negative. Take a look:
Starring music composer turned actor GV Prakash, Sarvam Thaala Mayam has opened to really positive reviews, with many calling it one of his best performances.
