There’s no doubt that Shah Rukh Khan’s charm, looks and acting chops have been a major reason for the love from fans, and the massive celebrations on the occasion of his 53rd birthday on November 2. But there’s no denying the fact that it's movies that has played a major role in giving the actor the opportunity to showcase his talent to audiences and make them fall in love with him over and over again.
It’s been more than 26 years for the ‘King Khan’ in the industry, and there’s no denying the fact that his co-stars have contributed to his success. His pairing with Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif, or even the male actors like Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshn and Akshay Kumar, have all been liked and appreciated over the years. But there are many who he is yet to share the screen with, something which we hope happens in the near future. Here we list down six new age actors, who we want to see pair up with SRK on screen, sooner rather than later or never.
The ‘Man of the Moment’, Ayushmann Khurrana, is having the time of his life with the back-to-back successes of ‘AndhaDhun’ and ‘Badhaai Ho.’ Like SRK, he is also from a non-industry background. The combination of Shah Rukh Khan’s mass appeal and Ayushmann’s slice-of-life stories with a naughtiness to it will surely be lapped up by the audiences.
Like Shah Rukh, Rajkummar Rao ’struggled’ his way to the top, after multiple films in supporting roles. But after the blockbuster success of ‘Stree’, there’s no doubt he’s one of the actors to watch out. The movie showed he can do comedy, (remember an SRK mimicry?) and dance too, but how about Rajkummar doing an intense drama on the lines of ‘Shahid’ or ‘Omerta’ alongside Shah Rukh Khan.
Vicky Kaushal is another current sensation. With all due respect, the manner in which he, in ‘supporting roles’ accentuated two of the best performances of the year, Alia Bhatt in ‘Raazi’ and Ranbir Kapoor in ‘Sanju’, proves he’ll surely do so for Shah Rukh too if they do collaborate any time.
Not just Netflix, where she was termed ‘omnipresent’, Radhika Apte is actually all over. Apart from ‘Sacred Games’, ‘Ghoul’ and ‘Lust Stories’, the manner in which the actor has blended commercial and ‘offbeat’ well with ‘Pad Man’ opposite Akshay Kumar and ‘AndhaDhun’ with Ayushmann Khurrana or ‘Baazaar’, has been commendable. And a movie with Shah Rukh Khan, would not just be a major boost for her, but will be an interesting pair on screen.
Swara Bhasker’s acting potential has come out on screen in movies like ‘Nil Battey Sannata’ and ‘Anaarkali of Aarah'. But one of the most interesting aspects about her has been her vocal views on most of the important current events like the Kerala nun rape case, #MeToo movement and more. On the other hand, we know how ‘politically correct’ Shah Rukh Khan is and their pairing would be a case of opposites attract off-screen. With an upbringing in Delhi and praise-worthy acting skills as the common factors, we would love to see them together.
Kalki has always been termed 'unconventional’ right from her debut in ‘Dev.D’ to some of her acclaimed performances like ‘Margarita with a Straw.’ Her ability to shine even with limited screen time in movies like ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara', something that’s expected of her in the upcoming ‘Gully Boy’ too, is testimony enough of her screen presence. And pairing her up with another actor, known for his screen presence, Shah Rukh Khan, will surely light up the big screen.
