SRK and Big B donates money to help Kerala Flood Victims

Kerala floods considered to be the worst in a century have claimed 357 lives and left many people homeless. And as rescue operations by the Indian armed forces continue in the state, a lot of volunteers have come forward and extended help to the needy people who were left stranded and homeless when the floods washed away all their belongings. A lot of film celebrities too expressed grief over the lives lost and urged the people of the country to extend their help. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan went a step ahead and donated a hefty amount to the Kerala relief fund. 'Meer Foundation' established by Shah Rukh Khan reportedly donated Rs.21 Lakhs to the Government of Kerala's Chief Minister Distress Relief Fund. 

Not just that, Shah Rukh Khan's fans too seems to have taken a cue from their favourite superstar and did their bit to help the victims of worst ever floods devastating Kerala. 

Meanwhile, Resul Pookutty who was awarded Oscar for Best Sound Mixing for 'Slumdog Millionaire' (2009), thanked Shah Rukh Khan for his generosity and quick actions. Resul Pookutty in his tweet wrote: Thank you so much @iamsrk me personally and the people of Kerala are indebted to you for your generosity and quick action...respect 🙏🙏🙏

To which Shah Rukh Khan replied in all modesty. Shah Rukh Khan in his tweet replied: @resulp Sir, it’s the Duty & Dharma of each one of us to stand by our brothers & sisters in times of need. May Allah bless each & everyone in Kerala.

Apparently, Resul Pookutty has asked help from many celebrities but only Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and AR Rahman have responded yet and lent out help. Resul Pookutty tweeted: "I have personally reached out to most of them @SrBachchan @iamsrk and @arrahman were quick to react and we are consolidating our fair share of help to #Keralafloods and my fraternity says #istandwithkerela I’m humbled! Thank you so much!"

Amitabh Bachchan has also donated an undisclosed amount for the Kerala floods victims. Through Twitter, he urged people to make the donation for the people in need. Big B tweeted: The devastation caused by incessant rain in Kerala is frightening! Hundreds and thousands of our sisters and brothers are in deep anguish! We must do all we can to contribute as much as we can towards the needs of the people of Kerala ..
