There’s trouble in store for Shah Rukh Khan after an Odisha-based outfit has threatened to attack the actor with ink and show him black flag if he visits the state during the Men’s Hockey World Cup slated to kickstart next week.

The organisation, which goes by the name ‘Kalinga Sena’, had earlier filed a police complaint against SRK on November 1 for allegedly ‘insulting’ Odisha and its people with his 2001 film ‘Asoka’. It also held a rally and burnt his effigy on November 11. Their grouse is that the movie insulted Odisha culture by depicting the Kalinga war wrongly. The Kalinga (Odisha’s historical name) war refers to the battle between Emperor Asoka and the Kalinga king which was won by the former. As per reports, the movie had faced problems in the state even during the time of its release 17 years ago, where it couldn’t screen for more than a week due to the opposition.

Hemant Rath, Kalinga Sena chief, has demanded an apology from SRK. In a statement to the press, the outfit’s general secretary Nihar Pani said, "We have made preparation to throw ink on the actor's face and show him black flag at any place from the airport to the stadium. Our activists will remain present all along the road where Khan is likely to visit.”

According to reports, SRK is scheduled to be present for the inauguration of the World Cup at the Kalinga Stadium on 27 November after being invited by the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Police has reportedly ensured adequate security for Shah Rukh and other eminent personalities expected to attend.
