Aamir Khan's 'Thugs of Hindostan' had a massive release across the country and raked in the moolah during the opening three days. But after choppy reviews from critics and poor word of mouth, the film has all but crashed at the box office just a week after release. This is truly a disaster for an actor like Aamir Khan, who is known to be one of the most bankable stars in the industry. Now, his friend and fellow superstar Shah Rukh Khan has a lot to say on film and how it has been treated.

Coming to the film's defense, he said that it has really saddened him how the film has been received, even though it has happened to him before. SRK feels that both Aamir and Amitabh have delivered excellence in cinema for decades and some seem to have forgotten that as they are judging the film too harshly. Although he did point out that both of them have incredible spirit and will bounce back from this setback stronger than ever.

Then advising people to take it a little easy on the criticism, SRK said that since it was an attempt at something different, it should be given a little leeway. King Khan also drew parallels with Rajkummar Rao starrer 'Stree' and how in spite of it being a different kind of film, it was welcomed with open arms. He added that if new kind of cinema is to be encouraged, then there will be hits and misses, which people should learn to accept. The actor also pointed out that India has not made any attempt in the adventure genre since the black and white era, so he gives them props for trying. Finally, an exasperated Khan said that 'Thugs of Hindostan' is not 'Pirates of the Caribbean', so people should just drop the comparison.
