Shahid Kapoor Opens Up On His Films That Have Underperformed

  • When the 'Kaminey' actor was asked about his underrated films and if things could have gone further with it, Shahid reportedly said that in terms of the numbers, he felt that almost all of his films have underperformed.

Shahid Kapoor is currently riding high on the success of his most recent release 'Batti Gul Meter Chalu'. The film also starred Shraddha Kapoor, Yami Gautam and Divyendu Sharma. The film was a social drama that revolved around the issue of electricity overbilling and corrupt power corporations. The film was helmed by Shree Narayan Singh who previously helmed Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha'. The film decently performed at the box office.

In a podcast titled 'Take 2', Shahid appeared with film critics Anupama Chopra and Rajeev Masand made many confessions. When the 'Kaminey' actor was asked about his underrated films and if things could have gone further with it, Shahid reportedly said that in terms of the numbers, he felt that almost all of his films have underperformed. Reports suggest that Shahid Kapoor said that in terms of numbers, almost all of them should have done better and that the films have always underperformed. 

Reportedly, Shahid further went on to say that 'Jab We Met' could have done better but was under an immense amount of distress. As per reports, the 'Udta Punjab' actor said that all of his films that were good did well. He also further said that his films 'Udta Punjab' and 'Haider' could have done better, as reported.

Adding to that, Shahid reportedly said that 'Jab We Met' should have done a lot better than it did but there was always a distress situation at that time, wherein the film was under a lot of distress. According to reports, Shahid said that nobody wanted to see him and his then girlfriend Kareena Kapoor Khan together at that time and so it didn't get a proper release.

What's next for Shahid Kapoor

Shahid Kapoor who is basking in the glory of his latest release 'Batti Gul Meter Chalu' was blessed with a second child, a son, on September 5. The actor will next be seen in the Hindi remake of Telugu film 'Arjun Reddy' which is yet to be titled. The remake also stars Kiara Advani who was last seen alongside Mahesh Babu in 'Bharat Ane Nenu'.
