Author Shobhaa De’s ‘insensitive’ tweet on late Bollywood actress Sridevi’s funeral has sparked massive outrage on social media. On Wednesday, when Sridevi’s prayer meet was being held at Celebrations Sports Club followed by the funeral at Vile Parle Seva Samaj Crematorium and Hindu Cemetery in Mumbai, Shobhaa took to Twitter to post a tweet taking an apparent dig at the name of the venue.

Shobhaa reportedly deleted the tweet soon and posted yet another tweet after tweaking the words in the original tweet.

Twitterati was quick to condemn the author for her tweet. Some netizens accused her of using the opportunity to garner ‘publicity’, while a few angry users wished she could be ‘exchanged’ for Sridevi.

Meanwhile, family, friends, and fans are still reeling under the shock of Sridevi’s sudden demise on Saturday. Sridevi passed away on late Saturday night in Dubai, where she was attending a family wedding. According to the forensic report, the 54-year-old Indian actress died of accidental drowning in her hotel room's bathtub, after suffering a dizzying spell.

Draped in red and golden Kanchivaram saree, Padma Shree awardee actress Sridevi set out on her last journey on Wednesday. Adorned in tricolour, the Indian actress' mortal remains were carried to the cremation ground in a decorated carriage. Stepson Arjun Kapoor, nephew Mohit Marwah was seen on the truck carrying the remains of the 54-year-old actress.

She was given the state of honour by the Mumbai Police at the Celebrations Sports Club. The cremation ceremony of the actress took place at Vile Parle Seva Samaj Crematorium and Hindu Cemetery at 3.30 pm on Wednesday. A sea of fans and celebrities had thronged the condolence meeting of the actress to have a last glimpse of the yesteryear diva, who passed away on February 24.

Many big names from the industry such as Subhash Ghai, Tabu, Aishwarya Rai, Jaya Bachchan, Sushmita Sen, Esha Deol, Hema Malini, Manish Paul, Farah Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sonal Chauhan, Satish Kaushik, Annu Kapoor, Alka Yagnik, Kajol and Ajay Devgn, among others, came to pay homage.
