National award-winning filmmaker Shoojit Sircar is back with his next release 'October' starring  Varun Dhawan and Banita Sandhu. The film that hit the silver screen on Friday, April 13, has already garnered applaudable reviews.

While speaking to Republic TV exclusively, director Shoojit made an interesting revelation about the male-lead Varun Dhawan. He said,

" I had no clue what he was doing. I knew that he was jumping around the place, singing dancing, full of energy. I actually didn't have any clue who he was. Our planets don’t match at all. He is from Mars and I am from Earth”

When asked about how Varun was cast in the film, the director further added,

"I have seen all glimpses of the trailers but haven't seen his work. Entire 2016 he was chasing me and trying to meet me and he was accidental as a cast. I should tell you because we were looking for fresh faces for 'October',  so he just said that I want to meet you and he came over and then I saw a different side of him as a person. I had a pre-conceived notion about him, the commercial world he was living, stardom and all. But I saw innocence in his eyes.

There was something boyish about him, something pure.

So when Varun called me for a meeting I asked him to come over, he told me that he has just woken up and I insisted him to come in his out of bed avatar, he was very clumsy when I saw him and that was the second most important requirement for him. I needed an actor like that. When I clicked his picture and sent it to Juhi, she said ‘I never thought you'd be even thinking of casting Varun’. It was in her mind too but she said she didn't have the guts to tell me that!”

Meanwhile, Banita Sandhu is making her Bollywood debut with this film and post 'October' Varun will gear up for his upcoming film 'Sui Dhaga' starring Anushka Sharma. Varun Dhawan was last seen in 'Judwaa 2' opposite Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu. The film was directed by his father, director David Dhawan.
