The news of Irrfan Khan's ill-health took the industry by storm. On March 16, the actor took to Twitter to reveal that he has been diagnosed with a NeuroEndrocrine tumour and will be travelling abroad for his treatment.  The actor is reportedly undergoing treatment in London.

During an exclusive interview to Republic TV, Shoojit Sircar, who shares a great camaraderie with actor Irrfan Khan, opened up about the actor's health. Shoojit said, "Yes I spoke to him yesterday I think he is in Europe and his treatment and all the consultations and everything is going on. I will leave it to his wife Sutapa and its a very struggling time for them so I think they will come and update whatever it is I have been talking to him and so far he is doing fine."

Shoojit who is gearing up for his next 'Óctober' which is slated to release on April 13th has earlier collaborated with Irrfan for the national award-winning film 'Piku' which also featured Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan in pivotal roles.

On Wednesday, Irrfan Khan’s spokesperson had issued a statement dismissing all the recent rumours about the actor's health. The statement read,

"We as his family and friends again request the members of the media to continue their support and the prayers for Irrfan. However, it’s not right to spread rumours through mediums of social media without fact check or any official validation. In the meanwhile once again we request everyone to refrain from picking up social media statuses as affirmative developments on someone’s health."

Irrfan Khan stunned one and all when he opened up about his rare disease on Twitter. On March 16, the actor posted, "The unexpected makes us grow, which is what the past few days have been about. Learning that I have been diagnosed with NeuruEndocrine Tumour as of now has admittedly been difficulty, but the love and strength of those around me and that I found within me has brought me to a place of hope. The journey of this is taking me out of the country, and I request everyone to continue sending their wishes. As for the rumors that were floated, NEURO is not always about the brain and googling is the easiest way to do research ;-) To those who waited for my words, I hope to be back with more stories to tell."
