Ranveer Singh ended 2018 with a bang with the release of his cop film 'Simmba'. The film has since become a blockbuster and has become the biggest commercial hit in the actor's career. The Rohit Shetty directorial breezed past Rs 100 crore and Rs 200 crore in no time and now it has achieved another incredible feat.
'Simmba' has now become the highest grossing film of Rohit Shetty's career as it has now amassed Rs 227.71 crore in India itself. With these incredible figures, it has crossed the lifetime collections of Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer 'Chennai Express' which earned around Rs 227 crore in the country. Not only that but even with two new release 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' and 'The Accidental Prime Minister' dominating most of the screens, the Ranveer Singh starrer earned Rs 2.86 on the last Monday. Considering how many weeks it has already run in cinema halls, this is quite incredible.
With such profitable collections, it has become another feather in the cap for Rohit Shetty, who seems to have aced making commercial entertainers as every film of his is becoming a blockbuster over the last few years. Other than 'Simmba', the filmmaker is also looking to make another cop film titled as 'Sooryavanshi', which will star Akshay Kumar. The maker has already hinted that the film is in the works with the ending of 'Simmba' which featured the character Sooryavanshi.
Other than Akshay Kumar, the film also featured an extended cameo from Ajay Devgn as Bajirao Singham, which was one of the biggest USPs of the film. As for Ranveer Singh, he is starting off 2019 real strong with 'Gully Boy' and has also begun prep for the Kapil Dev biopic which will be helmed by Kabir Khan.
