Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya has landed in a legal soup after a woman filed a complaint against him for allegedly using foul language while talking to her on the phone. Reportedly, the two were having an argument over some work being done in the society they live in.
As per the report in a daily newspaper, a police officer said that the woman had an argument with the singer over some drilling work being done in the society. The police have registered a case and will be investigating further to gather evidence and then take the necessary action. For now, a case has been registered against the singer at the Amboli police station, under section 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 506 (Criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Meanwhile, the singer who spoke to the daily about the matter denied of all the allegations. He said that the woman in question has been threatening him to extort money. Bhattacharya further said that he has given a commercial place on rent and the tenants were getting some work done and the woman objected to it. The singer, being the owner of the place, intervened into the matter. He also said that the complainant has constructed an illegal extension on the second floor of the building.
This is not the first time the 'Badi Mushkil Hai' singer has landed in legal trouble. In 2015, the singer had shown support to actor Salman Khan who was an accused in the hit and run case by making comments on the people who sleep on pavements and roads. An advocate had filed a complaint against the singer, stating that his comment was 'derogatory'. In another incident in 2016, the singer hurled abuses at a journalist on Twitter after she differed from his opinion on the Chennai Infosys techie's murder.
