Every year there are certain trends that major tech giants follow, here is a list of all the flagship smartphones with boxed camera setups from 2018 and 2019.

In recent years, smartphones have started housing multiple cameras to make it a better photography and videography experience for the users. It was with the Nokia Lumia 1020 that we saw strange-looking camera setups in the smartphones. Many 2018 and 2019 smartphones have been known for sporting multiple camera setups and boxed camera housings. Here are all the smartphones that housed boxed camera setups:

Smartphones with boxed camera setups
Huawei Mate 20 X and Mate 20 Pro:
The Mate 20 X and Mate 20 Pro by Huawei are two of the flagship pieces of tech that hosted a boxed camera setup. The 2018 smartphones had a triple camera setup that was fit into a box at the centre of the back. The triple camera setup is coupled with a four-led dual-tone flash. The Leica optics power the boxed camera setups on the Huawei Mate 20 X and the Huawei Mate 20 Pro.

Google Pixel 4 and 4XL:
For the first time in history, the Google Pixel smartphones ditched their single-camera setups and opted for a dual-camera setup for their 2019 flagships. The 2019 smartphones house the dual-camera setups in a left-leaning boxed housing. The camera setups on the Google Pixel smartphones have been known for their software optimisations among the experts since the launch of the first Pixel smartphone.

Apple iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max:
Apple also sported a boxed camera setup in its 2019 smartphones. Apple’s lineup of devices including the iPhone 11, the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max sport the boxed camera setup. However, the iPhone 11 houses a dual-camera setup when compared to the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max that house triple camera setups each. The boxed camera setup on the iPhone 11 is also glossy to contrast the matte finish of the body. In contrast, the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro max’s camera housing is matte-finished to contrast with the glossy back.
