Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha has hit the headlines for wrong reasons this time. In one of the interviews, the 'Kalank' actress used the word 'Bhangi' which infuriated the Valmiki Samaj. Post which, Valmiki Samaj also held protests against the actress in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh where they burnt her effigy and also demanded action against the actress, as reported by ANI news agency on Sunday.

Soon after, Sonakshi took to her Twitter handle to post an apology on Monday and wrote that she is humbly apologetic and her comment was 'unintentional' and 'underogatory'. She also further clarified that she meant no harm to the Valmiki community.

To give a background context, in the interview, when Sonakshi Sinha was asked about her airport looks, she said that sometimes she doesn't have time to prep and prefers casual airport looks. Particular comment that has now been deleted from the interview had her saying: "Yeh thodi hai ki purposely ghar jaake, 'bhangi' banke chali jayungi."

With reference to an interview I did with Siddharth Kanan on July 23, 2019, I place on record that I have tremendous regard and respect for the Valmiki Samaj and all their valuable contributions to our society and country. If any person or community has been hurt by the usage of any word by me, despite it being unintentional and un-derogatory to anyone, I humbly apologise for the same.

On the professional front, Sonakshi Sinha was last seen in 'Khandaani Shafakhana', and will next be seen in 'Mission Mangal' where she is a part of an ensemble cast that includes Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Nithya Menen and Akshay Kumar.
