Plagiarism is a grievous crime and in the growing globalisation of trends, it is not something that can escape one's eye. However, in India, there is a certain anonymous Instagram account, named Diet Sabya, that is a nightmare for all celebrities. Naming the biggest names in the fashion industry, Bollywood and stylists, the people who handle the account, do not shy away from scathingly reporting on these fake copies or rather 'inspirations'.
The recent one to get called out was Indian designer Anamika Khanna, who crafted her newest edition know as 'AK-OK'. The design was worn by Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor when she attended Isha Ambani's wedding in December last year.
Diet Sabya alleged that there were uncanny similarities between Indian designer Anamika Khanna's creation and the renowned fashion editor Anna Wintour's June 2018 AWOK Jordan's.
The post, however, did not go down well with many netizens, including the Kapoor family, who bombarded the comment section of the post with their remarks.
While Sonam Kapoor stated that the post is a little bit too much and that she is truly disappointed, given the fact that she is a true fan of the 'inspired' page.
Rhea Kapoor, went on to defend the Indian designer saying that Khanna does not like being vulnerable in the public eye and that she went through a major health crisis last year, and during that period, she came up with the concept of 'AK-OK'
Responding to their remarks, Diet Sabya hit out another comment which said 'Well, the Elle India feature states that the AK-OK idea is in fact by the sons, and inspired by 'hip hop music' and 'street culture'.
The comment defies the statement made by Rhea Kapoor previously that claims that Anamika Khanna's son's came up with the phrase when his mother (Khanna) was suffering from an illness last year.
After the debacle, netizens were soon to come out in the support of Sonam Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor and Indian designer Anamika Khanna.
Many also called out Diet Sabya saying that the page itself is a copy of 'Diet-Prada', which also calls out plagiarists.
After the post sparked some major controversy, Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor took to Instagram and posted a picture wearing Anamika Khanna's design 'AW-OK'. She also hit out a cryptic caption, not exactly calling Diet Sabya out, but explaining how the design came into being.
'My dear friend @anamikakhanna.in had gone through a terrible illness in the last year. Her beautiful twin sons @viraj_khanna and @thevisheshkhanna banded together and surrounded her gave her comfort and inspiration' read an excerpt from her post.
The post has been widely lauded by the netizens including her husband Anand Ahuja, and sister Rhea Kapoor among other celebrities.
However, this is not the first time the Instagram page, Diet Sabya has called a Bollywood celebrity out! Recently, Ranbir Kapoor's sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni was too accused of plagiarism, who then apologized publicly on social media.
