The Hindi film industry has begun to come to terms with the sexual harassment women go through considering Tanushree Dutta's allegations against veteran actor Nana Patekar. Sonam Kapoor who stood up for Tanushree is one outspoken actress who always seems to raise her voice for the right thing.
The 'Neerja' actress recently attended an event in Bengaluru and spoke uninhibitedly about the Me Too movement, the domino effect of Tanushree Dutta’s revelations and the allegations levelled against producer-director Vikas Bahl by a former Phantom employee for assaulting her in Goa during a promotional event of Bombay Velvet.
In reference to the accusation, Kangana Ranaut supported the girl and she too accused the 'Queen' director of sexual misconduct by saying that during the shoot of 'Queen', he would hold her tightly and smell her hair.
When Sonam Kapoor was asked about the same, She reportedly, appreciated Kangana's determination but also said that the 'Fashion' actress says a lot of things and sometimes, it's hard to take her seriously. She further added that her father Anil Kapoor too reacted to Tanushree Dutta and Vikas Bahl’s incident by saying that whatever happens to these men, they deserve it.
Post this, according to reports, Kangana Ranaut lashed out at Sonam Kapoor for her 'It's hard to take her seriously' comment, and said that if the actress shares her me too story, Sonam has no right to judge, what makes Sonam so unsure of her claims. Kangana further claimed that the 'Veere Di Wedding' actress has the license of trusting some women and not the others. She mentioned that Sonam isn’t known to be a great actress, neither does she have the reputation of being a good speaker. The fierce actress claimed that nothing gives these filmy people the right to take digs at her, she will demolish each one of them.
The 'Queen' star didn't stop there, reportedly she also took a dig at Sonam and hinted at nepotism as Kangana stated that she has made a place in Bollywood and earned credibility for herself after struggling for a decade, and not because of her father in reference to Sonam Kapoor being Anil Kapoor's daughter.
Regardless, celebrities and other people who have witnessed any kind of harassment are coming forward and speaking up, looks like the official MeToo movement of India has begun.
