After the controversial and the critically acclaimed ‘Udta Punjab’, there’s anticipation on what director Abhishek Chaubey has in store for the audiences with his next ‘Sonchiriya.’ The village setting and the casting of Sushant Singh Rajput, Bhumi Pednekar, Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey, Ashutosh Rana as dacoits/locals/cops, will surely excite viewers who are looking for a different kind of cinema.

However, the shooting of the movie was not a cakewalk at all. To get the authenticity right, the team actually shot in the interiors of Madhya Pradesh and were faced with a lot of hardships.

Imagine some of the well-known names of the country like Bhumi, Sushant, Manoj and others had to adjust due to the lack of facilities. Since the cast and crew consisted of a massive 400 persons, accommodation and other facilities became all the more difficult.

As the movie is a story of dacoits in Chambal in 1975, the actors were expected to ace the diction and accent of the Bundelkhand dialect, which was not easy again. To ensure that the actors’ dialogue delivery turns out to be smooth, the crew made it compulsory for everyone to speak in the Bundelkhand accent, not just during the shoot but even during the breaks.

The shooting went on for more than a month, and you can imagine the troubles faced by the cast and crew for such a long period of time. All the intense efforts have looked convincing in the action-packed trailer, and makers would now hope the conviction translates on the big screen when the movie releases on 8 February.
