Sridevi's mortal remains to arrive post 5 pm, says Mumbai Airport. Here's what we know

The mortal remains of iconic Bollywood star Sridevi are expected to arrive in India from Dubai after 5 pm on Sunday aboard a chartered flight.

In a statement, the Mumbai International Airport (MIAL) said:

"Remains of Ms Sridevi are expected on Chartered flight at GA terminal near gate 8. But it will be passed through Acc cargo for procedures."

In news that shocked the nation, Sridevi died at the age of just 54 on Saturday night.

Here's what we know:

  • Sridevi was in Dubai along with her husband Boney Kapoor and younger daughter Khushi
  • She was attending her nephew Mohit Marwah's wedding, which was held at the Waldorf Astoria in Ras Al Khaimah
  • She suffered from cardiac arrest and was taken to hospital
  • She died at around 11 pm UAE time
  • Her death was confirmed by her brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor
  • She had been posting photos and videos in the days leading up to her death and had looked to be in good health
  • Her elder daughter Jahnvi was not in Dubai as she was preparing for the imminent launch of her debut film Dhadak
  • Sridevi had no known history of heart condition, as per sources
  • The Indian High Commissioner to UAE has confirmed that he is in touch with the family as well as the UAE authorities

Sridevi made her Bollywood debut in 1978 with P. Bharathiraja's directorial ‘Solva Sawan’ which also starred Amol Palekar, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Madhukar and Dina Pathak in the lead roles. But it was only after five years with Jeetendra- starer ‘Himmatwala’ that she gained commercial success. She was featured in several iconic films like 'Himmatwala', 'Sarfarosh', 'Nagina', 'Janbaaz', 'Guru', 'Mr. India', 'Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja ', etc. The Bollywood's Hawa Hawai has also been featured in several Tamil, Telegu and Malayalam films. However, she took a break from Bollywood for about a period of 15 years after starring in home production ‘Judaai’. She returned to the industry in 2012 with ‘English Vinglish’ and in 2017 she starred a revenge drama 'Mom' which also featured Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Akshaye Khanna. She also shot for a special appearance in Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film ‘Zero’ which is scheduled to release this December.
