The Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer 'Stree' is spinning its magic at the box office. The blend of horror and comedy seem to have worked really well with the audiences as the film has collected Rs.60.39 crores in the first week.

Despite the fact that it released on a non-holiday weekend, Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer 'Stree' has performed beyond expectations. With a mere opening of Rs. 6.82 crores, 'Stree' with a word of mouth publicity is going strong at the box office with audiences flocking to the theatres to watch the film. And with its first-week collection, going up to Rs. 60.39 crores, this 'Stree' is now gearing up to enter Rs.100 crore club. In fact, trade analyst Taran Adarsh too called the film's business an eye-opener. While stating the break-up figures of the film in his tweet Taran Adarsh wrote:

"#Stree is REMARKABLE in Week 1... Day-wise biz is an EYE-OPENER... East, West, North, South - this film is a WINNER... Fri 6.83 cr, Sat 10.87 cr, Sun 14.57 cr, Mon 9.70 cr, Tue 6.37 cr, Wed 6.55 cr, Thu 5.50 cr. Total: ₹ 60.39 cr [1950 screens]. India biz."

'Stree' which brought Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor together on screen for the first time released last weekend along with 'Yamla Pagala Deewana Phir Se' which saw veteran actor Dharmendra sharing screen space along with his two sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. On the other side, 'Stree' promised to deliver some scares and laughter, all at the same time.

The makers who claimed that the film is based on the writers Raj & DK's true experiences, themselves seem to have experienced some paranormal activities while shooting for the film. Raj & DK, who have directed 'Go Goa Gone' (2013) in past, shared their real-life experience from where the story of 'Stree' originated.

'Stree' is the story based in small-town Chanderi, where people have a belief that a mysterious woman abducts men leaving behind just their clothes. Delivering laughs even in such a gritty situation as the film's tagline goes, 'Mard Ko Dard Hoga', 'Stree' has managed to strike the right chord at the box office. The film also starred Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee and Vijay Raaz is all set to release on August 31.
