Suniel Shetty, Yami Gautam Among Others To Extend Support To The Ongoing #MeToo Movement

Celebrities like Suniel Shetty, Yami Gautam, Athiya Shetty extended support to the ongoing Bollywood #MeToo movement.

Bollywood's #MeToo movement, that started with Tanushree Dutta's allegations against veteran actor Nata Patekar has gained momentum in the past few days and has brought up the names of several other Bollywood celebrities who are accused of alleged misconduct by women in the industry.

Several renowned celebrities including director Vikas Bahl, and actor Alok Nath, among others, have come under the scanner. These revelations have created a huge stir in the Hindi film industry and several stars have spoken up against the offenders and extended their support to the assault survivors.

Celebrities like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Swara Bhasker, Sonam Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Twinkle Khanna, Simi Garewal, Lisa Ray, Parineeti Chopra have appreciated the ongoing #MeToo movement. 

Joining the bandwagon, Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty has also extended his support for the movement. ANI quoted the actor as saying, "This should have would have happened before. I support it completely and this has been going on in various other industries too. The consequences, sometimes, can be really bad but people are getting to know about it which will also help them in the future. The law will take its course."

Bollywood star Yami Gautam also extended her views on the on the ongoing movement and said, "It is not just a campaign; it is a global movement which should not be restricted to a definite timeline. It is not isolated in one industry and I am so glad that all the girls who have spoken up are so courageous. Whatever we are reading is really depressing and disgusting. The biggest problem is the fear to lose. We do not have the power to change the law, but we can, in the swing of this movement, create some difference."

Several other B-Town celebrities including 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbai' actress Prachi Desai and  Suniel Shetty's daughter Athiya Shetty also extended their views on the same. Lauding the movement during the Lotus Make-up India Fashion Week 2018 (LMIFW), actor Prachi Desai reportedly said that it's wonderful to be a part of this particular generation as now people are not only talking but listening to women. Athiya on the other hand reportedly said, that being a girl she is deeply affected by the ongoing campaign. She said that it is a great initiative and urged people to support it.
