'Kedarnath' narrates a heart-wrenching love story set against the backdrop of a catastrophic deluge that hit the Himalayan shrine in 2013. As per media reports, Sushant Singh Rajput will be seen playing the role of a Muslim 'Pithoo', a tour escort in the film, while Sara Ali Khan will be seen portraying the role of a Hindu tourist. 'Kedarnath' is produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Pragya Kapoor under the film production banners of RSVP and Guy in the Sky Pictures. Besides Sushant and Sara, the film also stars Nitish Bharadwaj, Alka Amin, Sonali Sachdev, Pooja Gor, and Nishant Dahiya.

The trailer of the film was released recently, and it has pumped up the expectations of the audience. However, the film is surrounded by controversies as several political parties have issued objection against a kissing scene of the lead pair in the film, stating that it violates the beliefs of the Hindus and hurts their sentiments by promoting 'love jihad.' Unaffected by the naysayers, the film is now all set to hit the big screens on December 7, 2018.
