Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu kick-started shooting for her upcoming venture 'Mission Mangal' on Friday, November 23. The actress took to Instagram and shared a picture from the first-day shoot. The picture was clicked from the back side, which features her wearing a yellow saree, while her hair is braided.

Revealing her on-screen identity, the actress captioned the post saying, " Kritika Agarwal, Navigation and Communication Department, reporting on duty 💁🏻‍♀️#MissionMangal #FirstDay #FireTheEngines"

'Mission Mangal' narrates the story of India's space mission which was launched on November 5 in 2013. Besides Taapsee, the film also stars Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Sharman Joshi, Kirti Kulhari and famous South Indian actress Nithya Menen.

Earlier on the day, the actress shared a video on her Instagram story while she was on the way to the sets of the film. In the post, she wrote, "Road to new Journey... Mission Mangal begins"

Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha also announced the first-day shoot as she shared a picture from the sets in her Instagram story. In the post, she wrote, "The mission is ON! The first day of shoot for me today."

On November 5, Akshay announced the making of the film and also unveiled the cast. He shared a picture with the cast on Twitter and captioned it saying, "Proud and excited to bring the story of India’s Mars Mission, #MissionMangal to you. Coincidentally the mission was launched on this very date, 5th Nov. 2013. Meet the team and do share your best wishes for our shubh mangal journey. Shoot begins soon @foxstarhindi"

Meanwhile, the film was drawn into controversy as a  US-based filmmaker had alleged the Atul Kasbekar directorial of copyright infringement. However, the smooth beginning of the shooting of the film might indicate that the issue is resolved. The release date of the film had also been announced as August 15, 2019.
