Telugu Film Director B Jaya Passes Away; Industry Mourns Her Demise

Renowned Telugu film director B Jaya breathed her last on Thursday at a hospital in Gachibowli. The director who was suffering from a prolonged illness passed away due to a cardiac arrest. B Jaya, who passed away at the age of 54, is survived by her husband B A Raju and son Shiva. According to the reports, the director was suffering from multiple diseases over the years following which the frequency of her public appearances reduced and her ill health also affected her work.

Bollywood actress Rakul Preet is currently shooting for the NTR biopic where she will reportedly be essaying the role of late actress Sridevi. Rakul Preet took to Twitter and wrote, "Can’t believe this happened!! Such a sweet person gone too soon .. RIP #jayagaru .. strength to @baraju_SuperHit and the entire family in this terrible time".


 As soon as the news of her demise broke out, her fans and several Tollywood stars expressed their condolences on social media.

B Jaya was a  journalist turned director created a name for herself in the Telugu film industry. She made her directorial debut with ‘Chantigadu’ in 2003 and carved a niche in the industry with films like ‘Chantigadu’, ‘Gundammagari Manavadu’, ‘Premikul and ‘Lovely’. B Jaya directed her last film ‘Vaisakham’  which released in 2017 which went on to become a massive box office success. Very few female directors like Vijaya Nirmala and Nandini Reddy could earn a name for them In Telugu industry and B Jaya was one of them. The director gave a break to several fresh talents in Tollywood like Suhasini, Shanvi Srivastava, Baladitya, Aadi, Kaamna Jethmalani, Shanvi Srivastava, and Suhani who went on to earn accolades for their acting chops. 


On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the director was honoured with the IWDA award. Before donning the hat of a director, B Jaya completed her MA in English from Chennai University and has an MA in Psychology with Annamalai University. She also worked as a columnist with a Telugu news daily. The sudden demise of the renowned director has created a void in Telugu Film Industry.
