Sara Ali Khan has announced her arrival in Bollywood in style with ‘Kedarnath’. The debutante's performance impressed her grandmother Sharmila Tagore so much that she texted her former daughter-in-law Amrita Singh.
The youngster revealed that her ‘dadi’ was immensely proud of her debut and called it ‘amazing’ that her character brought her family together for 30 seconds.
"Dadi is extremely proud. She is getting a lot of messages from people and she messaged mom which was a big one for me. I think dadi messaging mom, after you know... life, that we have, that was really something. That's amazing. If as a character, you can bring audiences together and as an individual you can bring your family together for 30 seconds also, that's something," the actress was quoted as saying at a media interaction.
Tagore had earlier lauded her granddaughter for her self-confidence and screen presence, humility and charm. The veteran actress added that Sara is never tongue-tied and has an answer for everything. She also expressed delight about standing up for her father Saif Ali Khan on ‘Koffee with Karan.’
Sara has been welcomed with open arms by critics and audiences alike for her role as Mukku, a daughter of an elite family, who falls in love with a commoner, a tourist escort played by Sushant Singh Rajput.
‘Kedarnath’ has done well at the box office, crossing the Rs 50-crore mark in the second weekend. The love story directed by Abhishek Kapoor has maintained a steady run at the ticket windows despite mixed reviews and a ban in Uttarakhand following protests over ‘hurting religious sentiments.’
