The trailer of the much-anticipated political drama 'The Accidental Prime Minister' release on Thursday, December 27, and the film has been dragged into controversy since then. The political drama is based on the life of the former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh and traces the making and the unmaking of the former PM. It features veteran actor Anupam Kher as the lead while British Indian actor Arjun Mathur aces the role of Congress President Rahul Gandhi.

Arjun Mathur, who has currently raised to prominence by portraying the political leader, has been in the industry for quite a while now. As per media reports, he has marked an appearance in about 30 TV commercials and over 17 Bollywood ventures. The 37-year-old actor has appeared in films as 'Luck by Chance' and 'My Name Is Khan'.
Mathur started his career in the industry as a production assistant and worked on the sets of Bollywood films including 'Kyun! Ho Gaya Na...', 'Mangal Pandey: The Rising', 'Rang De Basanti' and 'Bunty Aur Babli'. In fact, he also played a small role in 'Kyun! Ho Gaya Na....'
He has shared screen space with several A-listers of Bollywood, he has appeared opposite Irrfan Khan in Mira Nair's 'Migration' and worked with Shabana Azmi and Boman Irani in Farhan Akhtar's 'Positive'. His performance as Abhimanyu in Zoya Akhtar's 2009 venture 'Luck By Chance' bagged him several positive reviews.
He has appeared in several known commercials including the Dairy Milk Silk and the Godrej Interio ad. He is widely known for his role of KD in a Television series 'Bring on the Night' which was aired on MTV India in 2012. He also appeared in the music video of 'Khudi' by The Local Train.

Now, the actor is all set to play ace the role of Congress President Rahul Gandhi in 'The Accidental Prime Minister'.
