The Accidental Prime Minister: ‘I’d Love To Screen The Film For Dr. Manmohan Singh', says Anupam Kher

In a tell-all interview to Republic TV's editor-in-chief, Arnab Goswami on the show 'Nation Wants To Know', the actor said that he desires to arrange a special screening of 'The Accidental Prime Minister' for Dr. Manmohan Singh and his family.

The trailer of the much-anticipated political drama 'The Accidental Prime Minister' released on Thursday, December 27 and it has given a stir to a huge debate owing to its controversial storyline. The film which is based on the life of the former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh traces his journey throughout the time he was in power. Veteran actor Anupam Kher has taken up the role in the upcoming venture. 

In a tell-all interview to Republic TV's editor-in-chief, Arnab Goswami on the show 'Nation Wants To Know', the actor said that he desires to arrange a special screening of 'The Accidental Prime Minister' for Dr. Manmohan Singh and his family. The actor accepted that his idea about the former PM changed over the years.

When asked if his opinion about Manmohan Singh has changed over years, the actor replied, "Growth of a human being is 'change'. It's very important. During the making of the film, I realised that he is a very well-intentional person. He was shrewd, of course, he was ambitious, of course, but his intention cannot be questioned."

"I am a sum total of my mistakes and wrong statements, and I own up to it. That is what life is all about, you can't make all the right statements in life," the actor further stated. 

During the conversation, the actor further stated that he desires to arrange a special screening of the film for Dr. Manmohan Singh and his family. The actor, who is confident about his performance in the film, further stated that he is sure that the former PM will be extremely happy to watch the film.

Talking about the same, he said, "I would love to have a screening of the film only for him and his family. It is because he is the person I have portrayed, and not to point him out. I think he will be proud to see the film and the way he has been portrayed in the film. He will be extremely happy in his heart of heart though he might not express it. I will be glad if he and his family watch the film."

Besides Anupam Kher, the film also stars Suzanne Bernert as Sonia Gandhi, Aahana Kumra as Priyanka Gandhi and Arjun Mathur as Rahul Gandhi. The movie is helmed by debutant director Vijay Ratnakar Gutte and is scheduled to release on January 11, 2019.
