Most of us from the 90s grew up reading Harry Potter. JK Rowling's 7-part series became the topic of every dinner table discussion, house party or discussion in schools. Harry Potter soon became the ultimate fantasy. But what happens if it were to be made in India with Bollywood actors? Things could be very, very different indeed. Read on!

  • Harry Potter - Ranbir Kapoor

Both of them were born famous, thanks to family they come from. Like Harry, Ranbir was at the centre of all attention but shone when it mattered the most. He performed under pressure and earned a loyal group of friends. In that sense, Ranbir Kapoor makes for the perfect Harry Potter.

  • Ron Weasley - Varun Dhawan

They are both goofy, fun and extremely loyal. Like Ron comes from a Wizarding family, Varun too comes from a Bollywood family and has siblings to look up to. And yet, he's managed to carve his own niche and with time, has become successful. He may not have red hair, but Varun has what it takes to pull off a Ron Weasley.

  • Hermoine Granger - Deepika Padukone

Like Hermoine came to the wizarding world as an outsider, Deepika too entered Bollywood with no filmy background. Like Hermoine, she rose to the top through merit and her own brilliance. Deepika went on to make it to Hollywood and who better to play Harry Potter's perfect season.

  • Albus Dumbledore - Amitabh Bachchan

You get a sense that no matter what goes on in Harry Potter, inside or beyond the walls of Hogwarts — Dumbledore was always watching. He was the guardian, and a father-figure to everybody. Amitabh Bachchan is somewhat similar. A true legend, just like Dumbledore, Big B tends to watch over the industry and is the go-to man for advice for any young actor.

  • Severus Snape - Arjun Rampal

If there's one thing about Arjun Rampal, we can never seem to figure out whether he's the good guy or the bad guy in a film. His character always tends to have a shade of grey, even when he's playing the lead. In that sense, nobody can be more fitting to play Severus Snape, a man we love to hate but end up changing our minds at the very end. With Rampal around, we have our own half-blood prince.

  • Minerva McGonagall - Kirron Kher

Just like Dumbledore is like a father-figure, Prof. McGonagall was also like a guardian to the young students at Hogwarts. She was stern and strict and yet, had a soft side to her. Jolly and loveable, Kirron Kher is the go-to person in Bollywood and is a people's favourite thanks to her loving nature.

  • Rubeus Hagrid - Naseeruddin Shah

Like Hagrid, Naseeruddin Shah is unconventional and tends to stay away from the limelight, and yet remains a legend. He can scare you with his appearance but is extremely kind once you get to know him. If Bollywood went to Hogwarts, Naseeruddin Shah would surely be the gamekeeper.

  • Neville Longbottom - Govinda

Written off by everybody and cast aside due to his nervous nature, Neville proved everybody wrong and turned out to be one of the most crucial characters in the Harry Potter series. Govinda too had defied all odds to make a name for himself in the industry. He didn't always get the stardom some of his peers enjoyed but he made it big through talent and hard work. We know he's a great dancer but can he successfully perform Expelliarmus?

  • Draco Malfoy - Saif Ali Khan

There's something about Saif Ali Khan that when he plays the negative role, we love to hate him. Like the Malfoys have a legacy, Saif too was born into a royal family. He also has his own set of friends and doesn't seem to care about anybody else. Saif certainly has what it takes to pull off a Draco Malfoy.

  • Ginny Weasley - Alia Bhatt

Not to suggest that Alia is Ranbir's love interest, and neither is she Varun's sister. But the actor is pretty, talented and smart and is a perfect fit for Ginny Weasley. We know that Alia can survive from being kidnapped and drugged (Udta Punjab), but can she really open the Chamber of Secrets?

  • Lord Voldemort - Sanjay Dutt

Any Harry Potter spin-off is incomplete without the Dark Lord himself. And who better than Sanjay Dutt to pull of this dark, powerful, fearsome personality? Sanjay Dutt has the presence and the stature to pull off Voldemort and if you look at the image below, he can also look like him!
