Shah Rukh Khan might have taken a ‘sabbatical’ from acting for a while, but he has continued his creative endeavours. After tasting success as a producer for Amitabh Bachchan-Taapsee Pannu’s ‘Badla’ and backing upcoming ventures like the Emraan Hashmi-starrer ‘Bard of Blood’, the actor also dubbed for the latest version of the iconic ‘The Lion King.’ Like the above ventures, SRK has once again let the spotlight be others, on son Aryan here, who makes his debut in the creative space on such a level, by dubbing the Hindi voice of cub Simba while his reel-life father Mufasa is voiced by his real father. The father-son duo’s first creative collaboration earned rave praises from B-Town celebs, but is also making headlines for Pakistan actor-model Shaan Shahid’s criticism of Shah Rukh Khan’s voice. However, the ‘Chak De! India’ star fans didn’t spare him and replied with some stinging comments.
As Shah Rukh unveiled Aryan to the world as Simba’s voice in a promo from ‘The Lion King’, Shaan Shahid wrote that such an iconic film should not be ‘destroyed’ with a Hindi dub. He also stated that there was no difference in the ‘Badshah’s voiceover for this film as compared to other projects and added that the 51-year-old should’ve at least changed his voice for a lion’s dub.
Here’s his tweet: “Pls don’t destroy an iconic film with Hindi dub .. no difference in shahrukhs voice it is like any other V/O he does for his films . At least change your voice expression for a lions dub.”
SRK fans trolled him massively, many of them taking a jibe at his ‘popularity’, a few pointing out that the promo wasn’t even of Shah Rukh but of his son Aryan and many just asked him to keep quiet since the movie wasn’t going to release in Pakistan.
Here are the reactions:
‘The Lion King’ hits the Indian theatres on July 19.
