The Sky is Pink director Shonali Bose is not a new face in the industry. She is a National Award-winning director and has directed several other projects. Currently, she is enjoying the response to her latest film, The Sky is Pink produced by Priyanka Chopra. Here are a few other films directed by Shonali Bose.

1. Margarita with a Straw (2014)

This project starring Kalki Koechlin and Revathi received great reviews from the critics. Margarita with a Straw is a coming-of-age story of an Indian girl who has cerebral palsy and moves to the US to perceive her higher graduation degree. The film deals with self-acceptance, sexuality and sex life. Margarita with a Straw also depicts the relationship between a mother and her daughter once the mother gets to know about her daughter’s sex life and her relationship with her female friend. The film, which was released in 2014, pushed Shonali Bose into the limelight. She was also awarded the Sundance Global Filmmaker Award for her work.

2. Chittagong (2012)

Chittagong is a 2012 film directed by debutant director Bedabrata Pain and co-written by Shonali Bose. The film is based on events from the Chittagong Uprising in East-Bengal (now Bangladesh) during the British Raj. Music maestros Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Oscar fame Resul Pookutty composed music for this film. Actors Manoj Bajpayee and Nawazuddin Siddiqui were also part of this film. Bose won the National Award for the Best Debut Film of a director that year for his work in the film.

3. Amu (2005)

Amu is directed by Shonali Bose. It is based on her book of the same name. Amu follows the story of an Indian-born Native American girl who returns to India after completing her education to meet her relatives. During her visit, the lead character Kaju unravels her connection to the 1984 Sikh riots. The lead character of the film Kaju has been played by Wake up Sid actor Konkana Sen. The film also stars Brinda Karat and Ankur Khanna. Amu premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and the Toronto Film Festival 2005.
