Actress Priyanka Chopra will mark her return to Bollywood after three years with her much-anticipated release, The Sky Is Pink. This is her first Bollywood film after her much-publicised marriage to American pop-star Nick Jonas. The Sky Is Pink is based on the life of Aisha Chaudhary, a young motivational speaker who was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. Aisha got her book, My Little Epiphanies, published a day before her unfortunate demise at the age of 18. The film also stars Farhan Akhtar as Priyanka's husband and Dangal actress Zaira Wasim, who plays the role of Aisha Chaudhary.

The Sky Is Pink is directed by Shonali Bose. Her previous venture, Margarita With A Straw, which starred Kalki Koechlin, was critically acclaimed for its poignant story of a teenage girl with cerebral palsy and her coming of age story. The film dealt with themes of inclusion, self-acceptance and human sexuality. Along with Ronnie Screwvala and Siddarth Roy Kapur, Priyanka Chopra has also produced the film through her production company, Purple Pebble Pictures.

The Sky Is Pink premiered at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival

The film has been eagerly anticipated by filmgoers since it was announced. In India, The Sky Is Pink will release theatrically on October 11, 2019. The film celebrated its world premiere at the Toronto International Film festival on September 13, 2019. Initial reviews have been overwhelmingly positive. The film was accorded a standing ovation after the credits started rolling. One of the reviewers commented that the film is a tearjerker and thus, filmgoers would need to be ready for a lot of sniffing at the end. Critics have raved about the film and are calling it a landmark film in the history of Hindi cinema.
