Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri directed 'The Tashkent Files', a film on the mysterious death of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, released on April 12 after a the director was served with a legal notice a few days back.

The murder mystery stars Mithun Chakraborty, Naseeruddin Shah, Shweta Basu, Pankaj Tripathi, Vinay Pathak, Mandira Bedi and Pallavi Joshi in the lead roles.

And the Netizens' verdict is out and  Twitter is flooded with praises and the majority of users hail the director for 'touching the uncomfortable truth' and bringing it out on the silver screen. One user wrote: "Watched #TashkentFiles. As the film progressed, Wanted to know more and more about mysterious death of #LBShastri ji. Feeling very disturbed how the  facts were suppressed and never  investigated. Thank you โฆ@vivekagnihotriโฉ for touching the uncomfortable TRUTH." [sic].

The other fan commented: "Watched #TashkentFiles  A very good movie. People who watched traffic jam must agree that this more matured. Despite politics a  good entertainment and thriller too. Congratulations both of you. Welcome to politics is masterstroke at the end." [sic]

The film came under the controversy a few days back after the notice said that the trailer of the film was an 'attempt to create unwarranted and unnecessary controversy. 'The film in question is not only wrong portrayal of fact and fiction, it is a propaganda,' the complaint said.
