PC George, an Independent MLA from Kerala on Saturday saw himself in the midst of a controversy after passing an outrageous statement on a nun from Kerala who was allegedly raped by Roman Catholic Bishop Franco Mulakkal of Jalandhar diocese. In his statement, he said:

"Do you have any doubt that she is a prostitute? She enjoyed 12 times, suddenly it became rape on the 13th time? Why didn't she complain when it happened 12 times? Where was she then? 12 times she did not say a word and suddenly complained now. There was no complaint when it happened the first time.”

His appalling statement created an uproar amongst several, leading to demands of strict action to be taken for derogatory comments on a sensitive issue. Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon expressing her dissent on the statement, wrote on Twitter, “ Can the Commision for women please look into this? @Manekagandhibjp  this is clear intimidation of a victim, to suppress her voice. Can a case be filed against this man?”. The 43-year-old actress also tagged the Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Maneka Gandhi in her tweet.

The Kerala MLA’s disgusting and disturbing remarks came amid the protest by a group of nuns at the High Court Junction bus station in Kochi demanding the arrest of Bishop of Jalandhar, Franco Mulakkal.

When Republic TV confronted the MLA, he was completely unapologetic for his statement and said, "She is not a nun in my opinion, because she is not a virgin. I know I am 100% correct. I am not afraid of anything. That was not a rape. I am saying facts. I am ready to fight any legal battles."
