Vivek Oberoi brought himself into the centre of a controversy after sharing a distasteful meme on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Now, the actor is set to face action from the National Commission for Women for his controversial tweet.
Chairperson of the National Commission for Women, Rekha Sharma tweeted that Vivek’s Twitter post ‘degraded a woman’ and termed it as ‘disgusting’ and ‘distasteful’. Sharma also stated that the organisation will be sending a notice to the actor.
Previously, it was reported that the Maharashtra State Commission for Women is also mulling action against the ‘Company’ star for his tweet.
The National Commission for Women had similarly taken objection when Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan had made a sexist comment against Bharatiya Janata Party rival from and actress Jaya Prada. The organisation had then too sent a legal notice to the SP leader.
Vivek was slammed by netizens for sharing the meme that compared Aishwarya’s pictures with Salman Khan, Vivek and Abhishek with opinion polls, exit polls and election results.
Not just the Twitterati, even celebrities like Jwala Gutta, Sonam Kapoor had expressed their disgust over it.
