Ranveer Singh who will be next seen in the action flick 'Simmba', has a promising 2019 ahead of him. With Gully Boy all set to release in February, the film that the actor is really excited about is the sports biopic 83, where he will be essaying the role of Kapil Dev. The actor had always expressed a desire to play the legendary all-rounder and Indian team skipper but it turns out that his love for the game goes far beyond that.
According to reports, it has come to light that Ranveer initially aspired to be a cricketer and not an actor. As a kid, he had even gone for tryouts at the Bombay Gymkhana Club. However, it was there that he met ex-cricketer Mohinder Amarnath, who after watching his game, rejected him from the tryouts. Now, funnily enough, he will be playing Kapil Dev on the silver screen who was also Mohinder's captain during the 1983 world cup which India won for the very first time. It is almost as though destiny had this in store for him and hence he could not make his as a cricketer. The actor himself had shared this information once which had come as a surprise to many. However, he added that he was grateful, otherwise he would have not made a career in front of the camera.
Coming to 83, the actor has admitted that it will be one of the biggest challenges in his career in terms of performance. Not only does he have to get his walk, diction and nuances right, but also has to ace his bowling action, which was one of the most unique and difficult ones in the world. Meanwhile, here is a crazy video of the actor playing a cricket match in snowy, mountainous conditions complete with commentary and a bad British accent.
