According to reports, it has come to light that Ranveer initially aspired to be a cricketer and not an actor. As a kid, he had even gone for tryouts at the Bombay Gymkhana Club. However, it was there that he met ex-cricketer Mohinder Amarnath, who after watching his game, rejected him from the tryouts. Now, funnily enough, he will be playing Kapil Dev on the silver screen who was also Mohinder's captain during the 1983 world cup which India won for the very first time. It is almost as though destiny had this in store for him and hence he could not make his as a cricketer. The actor himself had shared this information once which had come as a surprise to many. However, he added that he was grateful, otherwise he would have not made a career in front of the camera.
