Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan are a popular on-screen Bollywood couple. The two made their debut in Karan Johar's Student of the Year movie in 2012. The movie was well-received by the audiences. Along with Varun and Alia, even Sidharth Malhotra made his debut in the same film. From SOTY to Kalank

Soon after Student of the Year,  Varun and Alia featured opposite each other in Karan Johar's Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania in the year 2014. Post the movie, the two became a superhit Jodi of Bollywood. The couple is still seen as one of the best on-screen couples. They also share a very close friendship off-screen.

Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania

In the movie, Alia Bhatt was portraying the role of Kavya Singh and Varun Dhawan was seen as Humpty Sharma. The movie is a cute love story of Kavya who is getting married to an NRI, and all that she wants is an expensive wedding outfit for her wedding day. After falling in love with Humpty, she realises that there is no chance her father will accept their marriage. In the movie, Humpty knows that Kavya is not meant for him, but he still wants her to have the fancy lehenga that she always wanted. Humpty, his father and his best friends, then contribute to her lehenga. Kavya accepts the money, but she goes back home, and she gives up on buying her lehenga because she wants to gift Humpty his dream car.

Badrinath Ki Dulhania

Vaidehi (Alia Bhatt) does not show up on her wedding day because she wants to chase her dream of becoming a flight attendant. Her to-be-husband, Badri (Varun Dhawan) hunts her down, gets upset with her, but facing the truth soon realizes that she (Alia Bhatt) will have to leave her dream job if she were to marry him. It is later seen that he is proud of Vaidehi for following her dreams. Badri is then ready to break the engagement with Vaidehi, he does this so selflessly as he wants her to truly pursue her dream and be happy.
