The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a notice to actor Priyanka Chopra at Oshiwara in Mumbai's Andheri (West) for unauthorised construction at the premises of her office as well as at an adjoining commercial premises which the Quantico star had rented out.

As per BMC officials, five complaints had been received from people who visited the salon and spa where the construction infringement is said to be located. Officials of the BMC then visited the premises and verified the violations. Accordingly, two separate notices have been sent to the owner-occupants of both the premises. They have been asked to remove the illegal alteration and restore the premises along the lines of the BMC-sanctioned plan from June 2013 or the alteration will be demolished in a month.

The violations allegedly included unauthorized erection of full-height partition cabins, as well as amalgamation and construction of mezzanine floors.

As per inputs, this isn't the first notice that has been sent over the matter, though no response has yet been received. The new notice has been sent under provisions of the Maharashtra Regional Town Planning Act (MRTP).

Priyanka Chopra, who was in India till just a few days back and attended the Akash Ambani-Shloka Mehta engagement festivities along with rumoured beau Nick Jonas, is hardly the first actor to be sent such a notice:

Amitabh Bachchan was reportedly sent a notice over an alleged 'illegal construction' at his Goregaon bungalow in October 2017. Rani Mukherji had been sent a notice over an alleged violation at her Juhu residence. In December 2016, Arjun Kapoor had been pulled up for building a terrace gym at his Juhu apartment. Comedian Kapil Sharma as well as actor Irrfan Khan, who both live in the same building in Goregaon, had been recipients of a BMC notice for illegal construction in 2016. At that time, Kapil Sharma had tweeted to the Prime Minister that a bribe had been demanded from him.
