The film that also stars Jyoti Malshe, Dhundhiraj Prabhakar Jogalekar, Anita Date, Deepak Damle, Ronjini Chakraborty and Mohammad Samad in pivotals breathes life into the ancient folklore of India. The trailer starts with a family talking about leaving their village called Tumbbad where the mythical treasures are hidden guarded by a demon. The father-son duo possessed by greed go on a journey to find the hidden treasure face many consequences which forms the crux of the story. With eerie background score and cinematography that takes you on a journey of a lifetime, 'Tumbbad' is a fresh concept brought to light through the eyes of Ravi and his co-director Adesh Prasad. Viewers might also get to witness hues of horror stitched together with fantasy that brings a spectacle on the celluloid.

The poster of the film that was released ahead of the launch of its trailer also has an unsettling factor about it. The makers released a teaser in August that received much appreciation from one and all including celebrities like Raj Kumar Hirani, who went on to say that he hasn't seen such a visually stunning creation in a long time.

In an interview, Ravi spoke about how he doesn't want to focus on showing a rainy village in 1918 but to drag the viewer from his chair and throw him into that rainy village through his directorial venture. 'Tumbbad' was the first Indian feature to open Venice Film Festival's Critics' Week in August. The film is Sohum Shah's second production after 'Ship of Theseus', which won him a National Award.
