Miss India 2004 pageant winner Tanushree Dutta recently accused veteran actor Nana Patekar of sexual harassment on the sets of 2008 film, ‘Horn Ok Pleassss’. The accusation that ignited India’s very own ‘#MeToo’ movement has pushed others to share their harassment encounters.
On Monday, Tanushree Dutta’s lawyer, Nitin Satpute reportedly said, two more actresses, who are victims of sexual harassment have contacted him.
On October 6, the ‘Bhagam Bhag’ actress filed a sexual harassment complaint against Nana Patekar, Vivek Agnihotri, Ganesh Acharya, Sami Siddiqui, Rakesh Sarang, and others.
Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Manoj Kumar Sharma told news agency PTI,
"Tanushree Dutta has given us a complaint against Nana Patekar. As of now there is not any FIR registered in this case".
Meanwhile, Tanushree Dutta has received two legal notices, one each from Nana Patekar and Vivek Agnihotri. She had accused Vivek Agnihotri of asking her to allegedly strip and dance on the sets of the film 'Chocolate' in 2005. Dutta has been receiving multiple threats from the political party MNS and Nana Patekar, and is currently under police protection. The actress recently registered a complaint under section 354, 354(A), section 34 and section 509 of IPC (Indian Penal Code) against Nana Patekar, Ganesh Acharya, Samee Siddiqui, Rakesh Sarang, and MNS party workers.
Recently, in an exclusive interview with Republic TV, Tanushree's advocate opened up about the proceedings of the legal course of action on Tanushree Dutta's complaint against Nana Patekar and revealed,
"We have moved the complaint about lodging a fresh FIR, or we will continue with the whole FIR and we will seek further investigation in that matter. If the police fail to register a case or investigate this matter, then we will file a private complaint before the magistrate seeking action against the police officer who has not recorded her statement properly and register a criminal action against him. Plus, we are moving to the High Court by filing a petition to seek direction and implement the Vishaka Committee for every working place, for the safety purpose of all and avoid sexual harassment at the working place"
