'Unseen, unheard but still always near': Riteish, Genelia Deshmukh remember former Maharashtra CM Vilasrao Deshmukh on his birth anniversary

Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh remembered Vilasrao Deshmukh on his 74th birth anniversary on Sunday. Sharing the former Union minister and Maharashtra Chief Minister’s throwback pictures, the couple posted heartfelt wishes to convey how much the family misses him.

Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh remembered Vilasrao Deshmukh on his 74th birth anniversary on Sunday. Sharing the former Union minister and Maharashtra Chief Minister’s throwback pictures, the couple posted heartfelt wishes to convey how much the family misses him.

Riteish wrote on social media, “Happy Birthday Pappa...... I Miss You!!!” 

Genelia also posted a heartwarming note, “Those we love don’t go away.. They walk beside us everyday.. Unseen, Unheard but still Always near.. Happy Birthday Pappa.. Sometimes I just look up and Smile and Say “I know that was you” Miss You 💔” 

Abhishek Bachchan, Esha Gupta, Pulkit Samrat, Siddhanth Kapoor, Mushtaq Sheikh, Pulkit Samrat, Vatsal Sheth were among those who conveyed their love for the politician. 

Even Karnataka minister DK Shivakumar honoured him on the occasion wrote, “Remembering a visionary congressman, mass leader and former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri. Vilasrao Deshmukh on his Birth Anniversary today.” 

Vilasrao Deshmukh was in the headlines recently when Union Minister Piyush Goyal stated that he was trying to get his son a role in a movie when the 26/11 attacks were underway. Riteish had stated that he was present at Oberoi hotel, one of the locations to be attacked, but denied it was at the time of the attack and also asserted that his father never tried to get him a role in any movie.

Deshmukh Sr had served as an MLA from Maharashtra for three terms and was a two-time Chief Minister of the state. He was also a Union Minister in the Manmohan Singh government, before he passed away in August, 2012.  Ritesh and Genelia had got married the same year in February.
