Urban Naxals Case: "It Is A Crime To Be Poor In New India", Says Swara Bhasker

Actress Swara Bhasker takes has voiced her opinion yet again, and this time it is about the Urban Naxal case.

Actress Swara Bhasker, who is known to voice her opinion on several issues on social media, had gone on a ten-day social media detox, while on a vacation with her boyfriend. More than her films, the actress had of late made headlines for her strong opinions on pressing issues that matter to the nation. She has also been a victim of trolls on social media and had even the mastered the art of dealing with them. On August 16, Bhasker had posted that she would be going on a ten-day detox and asked Twitterati to not blow up the cyber world in the meantime.

She came back on Twitter just in time when the Urban Naxals debate had popped up, with the detention of activists in India.

On Tuesday, August 28, the Pune Police carried out raids at the residence of people who were suspected to have Maoists links. The raids were in connection with the Bhima-Koregaon violence. Following the raid, activists  Varavara Rao, Vernon Gonsalves, Sudha Bharadwaj and Arun Ferreira, who were alleged as Maoists sympathizers were detained, while Gautam Navlakha had been put under house arrest after Delhi High Court stayed his detention.

Swara Bhasker too made her stand clear on the matter and even re-tweeted several tweets making a point on the raids. Going against the raids, the actress said that it is a crime to be poor and to help the poor in this country. The actress expressed her thoughts about the alleged Maoist sympathizers and the raids carried out by the Police in a string of tweets.
