The biggest winner of Bollywood this year so far has been Vicky Kaushal's 'Uri: The Surgical Strike'. The action drama which is based on the Indian Army's covert operation across the border has been declared a blockbuster on all accounts. Now, the film has finally blasted past Rs 150 crore and with it has done something truly incredible.
The Aditya Dhar directorial earned Rs 9.20 crore on a Sunday which has now taken the total collection to Rs 157.38 crore. With these collections, it has also surpassed the lifetime net collections of Aamir Khan's 'Thugs of Hindostan' in India, which stands at Rs 151.19 crore. As if that is not enough, it has also beaten 'Tanu Weds Manu: Returns' to become the highest grossing medium budget film of all time.
But wait, there's more. 'Uri' has also become the first film for Vicky Kaushal that has crossed Rs 150 crore, making him more successful box office wise than many stars in B-town. The rate at which the film is going, it will not be altogether surprising if the film eventually reaches Rs 200 crore mark before it runs out of cinema halls. Overall, the film has set a new standard for Bollywood films this year that is going to be very hard to surpass.
It must also be remembered that the Vicky Kaushal starrer is still earning more than Rs 9 crore a day even with two big releases like 'Manikarnika' and 'Thackeray' in competition.
