Uri: The Surgical Strike which released on January 11, 2019, is showing no signs of stopping its brilliant box office run. Clumped in the category of medium budget films, the Vicky Kaushal is proving to the most successful of the lot as it is looking to reach Rs 100 crore in record time. Now, the ninth day collections of the film are in and it is indeed an unstoppable juggernaut.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the Aditya Dhar director minted Rs 13.24 crore on Saturday. With an impressive one day collection, the total has hit a whopping Rs 91.84 crore within the first nine days. At this rate it will hit Rs 100 crore right on its tenth day, making it a film which has fared better than 2018's blockbusters like Badhaai Ho, Raazi or Stree for that matter. Although it is no competition, it is clear that Uri: The Surgical Strike could emerge as the most commercially successful film in the medium budget category in recent times.
Not only that but if one compares its Friday collections with Saturday's numbers, then it is evident that the collections have almost doubled in a day's time.
Even as the film is continuing to leave the audience's awestruck, even national leaders have been swept by the film's incredible popularity. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in fact, uttered the famous war cry, "How's the Josh?" from the film during a speech at the launch of National Museum of Indian Cinema. Vicky Kaushal who starred in the film, also reacted to the now viral video featuring the PM.
