'Uri: The Surgical Strike' Is A Smash-hit Overseas, Mints Over 3 Million Dollars By The End Of The Second Week

The much-anticipated Bollywood venture 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' made its grand release on January 11, 2016, and the 'JOSH' is 'HIGH' in the theatres since then. Looks like the film which is praised widely in India has also received huge acclamation from the viewers' overseas as it has collected over Rs. 3 million worldwide.

The much-anticipated Bollywood venture 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' made its grand release on January 11, 2016, and the 'JOSH' is 'HIGH' in the theatres since then. Looks like the film which is praised widely in India has also received huge acclamation from the viewers' overseas as it has collected over Rs. 3 million worldwide. 

Film Critic Taran Adarsh confirmed the news. He took to Twitter and revealed that the film has grossed $ 3,094,132 by the end of the second week. In the Twitter post he wrote, "#UriTheSurgicalStrike is a SMASH-HIT Overseas... Crosses $ 3 mn after Weekend 2... Total till 20 Jan 2019: $ 3,094,132 [₹ 22.04 cr]... Meanwhile, the film has entered the Rs. 100 crore club in India as it has minted over Rs. 109 crores by the second weekend. It is the first film in 2019 to cross the Rs. 100 crore mark. Adarsh, in his tweet, praised the film for its massive growth over the weeks. In the post, he wrote, " #UriTheSurgicalStrike surpasses all expectations, estimations and calculations... Wreaks havoc at the BO... Weekend 2 [₹ 37.96] is higher than Weekend 1 [₹ 35.73 cr]... [Week 2] Fri 7.66 cr, Sat 13.24 cr, Sun 17.06 cr. Total: ₹ 108.90 cr. India biz. #Uri #HowsTheJosh"

'Uri: The Surgical Strike' pays tribute to the Indian army and to a new India. It is based on the September 2016 attack by Pakistani terrorists on the Indian Army brigade HQ in Uri, J&K and subsequent Surgical Strike by Indian security forces on terror launchpads in Pakistan. The film stars Vicky Kaushal, Paresh Rawal, Yami Gautam, Kirti Kulhari, and Mohit Raina in the lead.

It features Vicky as an Indian soldier who leads the army for the mission.
