'Uri: The Surgical Strike' wreaks Havoc At The Box Office Becoming The First Release Of 2019 To Cross Rs. 100 Crore Mark

The much-anticipated Bollywood venture 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' made its grand release on January 11, 2016, and the 'JOSH' is 'HIGH' in the theatres since then. The film which has received huge acclamation from the viewers' has entered the Rs. 100 crore club with its second-weekend collection. Film Critic Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and confirmed the news revealing that the film has bagged around Rs.108 crores over the second week. 

It is the first film in 2019 to cross the Rs. 100 crore mark. Adarsh, in his tweet, praised the film for its massive growth over the weeks. In the post, he wrote, "  #UriTheSurgicalStrike surpasses all expectations, estimations and calculations... Wreaks havoc at the BO... Weekend 2 [₹ 37.96] is higher than Weekend 1 [₹ 35.73 cr]... [Week 2] Fri 7.66 cr, Sat 13.24 cr, Sun 17.06 cr. Total: ₹ 108.90 cr. India biz. #Uri #HowsTheJosh"

The analyst further stated that the film should emerge as the highest grossing medium-budget film, surpassing the overall collection of Kangana Ranaut starrer ​​​​​​'Tanu Weds Manu Returns'.

'Uri: The Surgical Strike' pays tribute to the Indian army and to a new India. It is based on the September 2016 attack by Pakistani terrorists on the Indian Army brigade HQ in Uri, J&K and subsequent Surgical Strike by Indian security forces on terror launchpads in Pakistan. The film stars Vicky Kaushal, Paresh Rawal, Yami Gautam, Kirti Kulhari, and Mohit Raina in the lead.

It features Vicky as an Indian soldier who leads the army for the mission. The film has received great reviews from the audience and critics as they have praised the film for its patriotic zeal. It is written and directed by debutant Aditya Dhar and produced by Ronnie Screwvala under his banner RSVP Movies.
