While for most, monsoons bring alongs the wonderful whiff of the earthy scent and an outburst of various positive emotions, for Mumbaikars, it brings along the menace of potholes. And actor Vicky Kaushal has decided to take matters in his own hands. He was recently spotted filling potholes in the city.

The actor began his quest to make Mumbai's roads better at 6.30 am on Friday morning. In an attempt to raise awareness about road safety, the actor filled potholes at Mumbai's Veera Desai road. The actor joined Dadarao Bilhore and his mission to raise awareness about the grave issue. Dadarao, who is a vegetable seller, has filled 600 potholes in the last three years.

Vicky Kaushal said, "The road is right behind my building and thanks to the untimely rains, Mumbaikars face the misery of bad roads every day. It’s dangerous not just for those driving down them but also the pedestrians. I spoke to Dadarao, heard his story, learnt how to fill potholes and felt good doing it for a couple of hours. It was the best way to begin my day. After that I headed to Chembur for my film shoot.”

The issue of potholes is not alien to the actor as he has grown up in Mumbai himself. The actor went on to say, "It takes hours just to cross that junction today when once it was the shortest route to the highway. There were 10-15 people working together and it felt good doing something for the city."
The actor believes that a celebrity association with a campaign results in more participation and creates widespread awareness. “It's a problem that needs to be addressed urgently.  If we can reach out to more people, I would be the happiest", the actor said.

On the work front, Vicky Kaushal will next be seen in the Taapsee Pannu and Abhishek Bachchan starrer 'Manmarziyan'. The film, a romantic comedy-drama, set in a backdrop of Punjab. The Anurag Kashyap directorial is scheduled to hit the theaters on September 21. The actor has also bagged Karan Johar's film 'Takht'. The film which is a period drama is slated for a release in 2020 and also stars Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar, Anil Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor in crucial roles.
