Celebrating four years of the release, Vicky Kaushal took to his Instagram handle to write a heartfelt note for 'Masaan', a film that gave Kaushal the recognition in the Bollywood industry. Vicky who plays the role of Deepak Kumar in the film, wrote how he used to spend hours sitting at the Manikarnika Ghat in Varanasi, watching the 'bodies getting burnt one after the other.... turning into the same colour of ash'. He ended the note by saying, 'here's to 4 years of our beautiful friendship'.

'Masaan' is a story based in the city of Varanasi. Devi, played by Richa Chadha, along with Deepak Kumar, played by Vicky Kaushal and Shaalu Gupta, played by Shweta Tripathi, explore the realities of death, life and casteism in the society.
