Vicky Kaushal rose to fame after his role in Raazi opposite Alia Bhatt. He has won many awards for his acting and his fashion sense over the years. He has also won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his role in URI: The Surgical strike. Vicky Kaushal is known for experimenting with his roles and not sticking to conventional and convenient roles. There are many roles that he took a gamble on and came out with flying colours each time. Here are some of the most unconventional roles played by him.

Masaan

Masaan is the first film where he acted in the lead role. He has done a few minor roles before this. Vicky portrays a boy from the Dom community whose family works on the cremation ghats and earns money by burning funeral pyres. The inferiority complex the boy had was embodied perfectly by him. Unlike many who chose a simpler role for their debut as a lead actor, Vicky chose a different path. The critically acclaimed movie won Vicky Kaushal two big awards as the promising debutant.

Raman Raghav 2.0

Vicky plays the role of a corrupt cop in the movie. Raman Raghav 2.0 is an Indian neo-noir psychological thriller that portrays Vicky in a negative light. Vicky Kaushal turns criminal in the movie and his performance has garnered him a huge fan following. His co-actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui is one of the well-known actors in the industry. Vicky’s choice of the role is quite unusual in this movie as well.

Manmarziyaan

Vicky’s character in Manmarziyaan was so different that he had to pull off blue coloured hair! He plays the role of an aspiring musician and is in a complicated relationship. He stunned the fans after he was featured as a carefree youngster with coloured hair. The clothes he wore and the way he spoke was very different from his previous roles. He pulled off the role with great conviction, and hence the netizens praised him for his acting skills.

Sanju

Vicky played the supporting role to Ranbir Kapoor's Sanju. He played the role of Sanjay Dutt’s best friend Kamlesh Kapasi in his biopic Sanju, and was hugely appreciated for his impeccable acting sense. He played the character in a different light and won the hearts of many. He even added a little Gujarati accent to his Hindi to make Kamlesh more convincing. He won many awards in film festivals for the role and also bagged a Filmfare award for best supporting actor.

Bhoot: Part One - the haunted ship

The Bhanu Pratap Singh directed movie has not been released yet and is slated to release next year. However, Vicky Kaushal plays the role of a man from Mumbai who is stuck in a washed-up ghost ship. Bhoot: Part One - The haunted ship also stars Bhumi Pednekar and is said to be a real-life story. This is Vicky’s first time dabbling the horror-thriller genre. Very few A-list stars have attempted a horror film in Bollywood and hence Vicky’s bold yet unusual choice is what might set him apart from the rest of the Bollywood stars in the eyes of the audience.
