The success story of ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ is unprecedented. The film starring Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam in the lead is one of the biggest hits of the year. The film which released on January 11 and garnered appreciation from critics and the audiences. Helmed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, the film emerged as a massive box office hit.

But that is now where it ends. Besides providing entertainment, the film has also inspired many in the country to serve the nation. To validate the claim, Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal recently shared a fan's note on his Instagram story who claimed to have joined the Indian Navy after watching Uri. Sharing the post originally put out by director Aditya Dhar on Instagram, the actor stated that this makes all his efforts worth it.

In the note, the fan wrote, "I'm going to join the Indian Naval Academy in Ezhimala. The training commences from the 15th of this month for 4 years and after that, I'll be commissioned in the Indian Navy as an officer. Your movie in its essence has immensely motivated me to join the forces and I can only imagine so many other people like me who got similarly motivated. Thank you for making such a masterpiece for it will remain forever in our mind and spirit. Wanted to share this news with you before I started this journey as I truly felt inspired since the time I have watched Uri. Jai Hind."

‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ also starring Paresh Rawal, Mohit Raina, among others is based on the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army over terrorist camps in Pakistan in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri in 2016. While Yami Gautam essayed the role of an interrogation officer, the 'Raazi' star, played the role of an army officer in the Aditya Dhar directorial, which earned him humongous praises. From politicians to Bollywood stars, celebs across domain came forward to praise the patriotic zeal of the film.
