From 'The Accidental Prime Minister' to 'Thackrey' to 'PM Narendra Modi' 2019 has been a year of Interesting political biopics. Now joining the list is 'The Tashkent Files', the film that deals with the mysterious death of Dr Lal Bahadur Shastri, the second Prime Minister of India. The film has an interesting star cast including Mithun Chakraborty, Naseeruddin Shah, Shweta Basu, Pankaj Tripathi, Vinay Pathak, Mandira Bedi, Pallavi Joshi, Ankur Rathee and Prakash Belawadi in the lead.

The project which is reportedly in making for quite a few years now has finally got a release date. Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and made the announcement. In a post, he revealed that the Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri's directorial is all set to hit the theatres on April 12, 2019.

Unveiling the first poster of the film, Adarsh captioned the post saying, "Mithun Chakraborty, Naseeruddin Shah, Shweta Basu, Pankaj Tripathi, Vinay Pathak, Mandira Bedi, Pallavi Joshi, Ankur Rathee and Prakash Belawadi... #TheTashkentFiles to release on 12 April 2019... As per media reports, The Tashkent Files explores the real reason behind the mysterious death of the Indian freedom fighter and the second Prime Minister in Tashkent. With almost no official documents available in the records, director Vivek and his team reportedly researched over the last 3 years and has framed the project by collecting information in bits and pieces from the public.

Earlier last year, he had extended a video message to the Public asking them to share information related to Shastri's mysterious death in Tashkent, if they have any.
