After starring in 'PM Narendra Modi' biopic earlier this year, Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi is now gearing up for yet another nationalistic film. As per media reports, Vivek Oberoi has recently gained the rights to make a film on Balakot airstrike, which was conducted by India Air Force in February 2019. The film is reportedly inspired by IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who was taken into custody by Pakistani forces during the aerial combat between Indian and Pakistan and was released.
Vivek Oberoi confirmed the news with a Twitter post on Friday, August 23. Sharing a report publicizing the same on the micro-blogging site, the actor stated that he is 'honoured and humbled' to work on the project.
As per media reports, the film will be made in three languages- Hindi, Tamil and Telugu and will star leading actors of the industries in pivotal roles. The casting of the project will reportedly include for the roles of IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman and Squadron Leader Minty Agarwal who guided Indian Air Force’s interception to destroy Pakistan’s fighter jets. The film will reportedly go on the floor later this year and will be shot across Delhi, Agra and Jammu & Kashmir.
Talking about the film, Vivek Oberoi reportedly said that as a patriotic citizen of India, it’s his duty to highlight what the Indian army forces are truly capable of. Hailing IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, Vivek Oberoi further said that through this film he wants to highlight the bravery of Indian soldiers like Abhinandan who went behind the enemy lines and risking his life to do what was needed to be done.
The Balakot airstrike came as a repercussion to the dastardly Pulwama terror attack, by Pakistani terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed which claimed the lives of 46 Central Reserve Police Force Jawans. On the wee hours of February 26, Indian warplanes crossed the de facto border in the disputed region of Kashmir and dropped bombs in the vicinity of Balakot town in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan destroying JeM terror camps.
During the India-Pakistan standoff, IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was held captive for 60 hours in Pakistan after his aircraft was shot down in the aerial combat. IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman held his country's head high during his stay in Pakistan. He returned to India following the same.
