Rumours were rife that Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji's film 'Bunty Aur Babli' could soon have a sequel

If you loved Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji’s 2005 film ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ and were hoping for a sequel to the film soon, you might be in for some disappointment. Abhishek Bachchan recently revealed that he hasn’t been approached for the second instalment of ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ yet.

While talking to PTI, Abhishek Bachchan said, "Soon after the release of the film in 2005, Aditya Chopra, the producer of the film, was very keen that we do a sequel but he did not have a story at that point of time.” When asked if a sequel could be in the works anytime soon, the actor added, "Would he want to make a sequel? At that point of time, he did. If Adi finds a story that is worthy and he wants us to do it, he will let us know. As of now I can't say anything."

The story of the film directed by Shaad Ali was based on the journey of two small towners who flee their home to make a name for themselves and end up as fraudsters.

Meanwhile, there were also rumours which suggested that Abhishek Bachchan will be a part of ‘Dhoom 4’ which will reportedly star Shah Rukh Khan as the antagonist this time around. Abhishek said, "Till Adi doesn't tell me I would not believe any of the rumours.”

While Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan are all set to share screen space once again. The couple will feature together in a film after a gap of 8 years and will be seen in Anurag Kashyap’s next titled ‘Gulab Jamun’. According to reports, the will play never seen before characters in ‘Gulab Jamun’. While talking about the film, Abhishek said, "Gulab Jamun is a script that both Aishwarya and I agreed to do. We are looking forward to it. But we are still figuring out when to do it.”Reportedly, Aishwarya had earlier revealed that the couple had decided to work together when Abhishek returned to films with ‘Manmarziyaan’ which is directed by Anurag Kashyap. The couple last shared screen space in Mani Ratnam's film 'Raavan' (2010).
